Tracking Report
Which apps contacted known tracker servers, and which companies they reached, over the report’s five windows.
The Tracking Report answers one question: which of your apps contacted known tracker servers, and how much did they send? It matches connection history against the tracker catalogue in Trackers and telemetry. Only catalogue matches count. The menu bar panel shows a one-line version of today’s numbers.
Choosing a view
Section titled “Choosing a view”The window title is Tracking Report. Two pickers sit at the top.
- Show is By App or By Company. By App is the default. Its help is “Show trackers by app or by company”. By App is an outline: disclosure triangles, and the left and right arrow keys, open an app onto the servers it contacted.
- Time Range is Last Hour, Last 24 Hours (the default), Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days or Since Install. Its help is “Which stretch of history the report covers”. Today is the menu bar’s calendar day. It is not one of these five.
Search uses the prompt “Search apps, companies and servers”. Before any summary exists, a progress indicator shows. An empty report says No Known Trackers and “No known trackers yet. Outbound checks every connection against N known tracker servers.” A search with no hits uses the system search-empty view.
The headline figures
Section titled “The headline figures”The figures are Apps, Tracker servers, Companies and Connections. When any bytes were measured, a fifth figure is Sent, where measured. Its help says bytes are measured only for connections the filter saw close since Outbound started.
Under the figures, a phrase names the window (“in the last 24 hours”, and the same shape for the other windows). When your saved history starts later than the window, the phrase is “since you installed Outbound” instead.
By App
Section titled “By App”Open an app for “Contacted DETAIL, N connections”, a relative Last contact, and Sent, where measured when bytes exist. Each server row names the company, how long ago it was contacted, and adds “ · not blocked by Outbound” when Outbound will not block that server.

When this app can be blocked and it has a signing identifier, a switch reads Block This App’s Trackers. The caption is “Outbound blocks the tracker servers it can safely block for this app. Blocking them should not break it.” When that switch is not offered, the text is either “Turn on Block known telemetry in Settings › Telemetry to block these servers for every app.” or “Outbound labels these servers but does not block them: blocking could stop the app from working.”
With no app selected the detail says No App Selected and “Choose an app to see the tracker servers it contacted.”
By Company
Section titled “By Company”The company detail shows Connections, Last contact, and Show in Trackers. That button’s help is “Open this company in the tracker catalogue: what each server is for, and the sources”. Under it, Apps that contacted it and Servers.

With no company selected the detail says No Company Selected and “Choose a company to see which apps on this Mac contacted it.”
How fresh it is
Section titled “How fresh it is”Stored history is re-read every 15 seconds. The live monitor feed is folded in at most once a second. A tracker connection you just watched shows up within about two seconds, without the report walking the whole history again.
