Highlights and Today

Today’s privacy score and streak, Year in Review, At a Glance, the Passport and its illustrated stamps, awards and share cards.

Outbound 1.3.0 · Updated

Highlights counts your own history: a score for today, a streak, the year as a story, a passport of countries, awards, and pictures you can share. Nothing here is filled in from anywhere else. The footer reads “Highlights are worked out on this Mac from your own activity. Nothing is shared unless you choose Share and send it.”

If the history cannot be read, the pane says Highlights Aren’t Available and “Outbound couldn’t read your activity history. Try again in a moment.”, with Try Again.

The score you see is always of 100. It is built from three parts:

  • Protection, 40 points when the filter is on, and 0 when it is off, waiting for approval or its extension is missing.
  • Trackers, up to 30: the share of known tracker connections today that were blocked. When no tracker was seen, this part is left out.
  • Review, 30 until the oldest item in Review has waited 7 days, then a straight line down to 0 at 60 days. With nothing waiting, Review stays at 30.

When trackers were not classified, the other points are scaled so the number on screen is still out of 100. A day with protection on, an empty Review, and no trackers seen, scores 100. The three rings are Protection (of 40), Trackers Blocked (of 30) and Review (of 30). VoiceOver says “Trackers Blocked, nothing classified yet” when that part was left out.

Your privacy score appears above the Year in Review card.

Outbound Highlights: a privacy score of 83 out of 100, rated Good, with a 1-day streak and the Protection, Trackers Blocked and Review rings, the Year in Review card with a Play button, and At a Glance tiles such as Busiest Day, Trackers Blocked and New Apps
Example data.

A day counts toward the streak when its score reaches 70. Outbound works out and records the score only when you open Highlights, so a day you don’t open it doesn’t count. Outbound keeps the best score of that day, so a later higher score replaces a lower one. If today is still under 70, the streak is counted from yesterday. The history keeps 400 days. Seven days at 70 or more earns On a Roll.

Year in Review plays six pages on its own. The first page stays 4.5 seconds. Each later page stays 6.5 seconds. Pointing at the story pauses it, and it also pauses while the window is inactive or a share sheet is open. The left third of a page goes back. The rest goes forward. Space plays or pauses. Done closes it. Share… opens the preview. Show app names is on the third page, “The apps that talked most”, and is hidden on the others.

Outbound Year in Review story: My year on the network, 10K connections, 87.3 MB of data and 5 apps that went online, over a golden globe, with Done, playback and Share buttons
Example data.

At a Glance (“This year”) shows the figures that have something to count: Busiest Day, Trackers Blocked, Apps Contacted Trackers, AI Services, New Apps, Late Night (the share of connections before 5 AM) and Data Moved (sent plus received for the year).

The Passport is one stamp per country your Mac’s connections have reached since you installed Outbound. The subtitle reads like “12 of 195 countries since October 2026”. With none yet it says No stamps yet and “A stamp appears for each country your Mac’s connections reach.”

52 countries have an illustrated stamp, drawn for that country. The others get a plain postmark-style stamp on the same perforated paper. Each stamp names the country and how many connections reached it.

The section is Awards, subtitled “N of M earned”. Each award’s progress reads “N of GOAL UNIT”, or a percent for Night Owl (“N % of 20 %”).

Award What earns it
Globetrotter Reach servers in 25 countries.
Tracker Hunter Block 1,000 connections to trackers.
On a Roll Keep a score of 70 or more for 7 days in a row.
Night Owl Make a fifth of your connections between midnight and 5 AM.
Rule Maker Make your first rule.
AI Explorer Use 3 different AI services.

The share help is “Share “TITLE”” once the award is earned. Before that, the help is the award’s own sentence.

The Today card is on the Overview, not on this pane. It counts since midnight: apps and destinations, new destinations, destinations blocked, new countries for apps that have been around at least three days, and apps that are new today. Only the blocked line is a button, and it opens the Network Monitor filtered to blocked connections.

Share… on Highlights opens a sheet titled Preview. The picture is a 9:16 card, 360 by 640 points, drawn at three times that size, so the file is 1080 by 1920 pixels. The caption reads “This is exactly what will be shared: counts, countries and app icons. No websites, addresses or other details.” Save… and Share send it. Nothing leaves the Mac until you choose one of those. A saved file is named “Outbound NAME.png”. On the year’s apps page, Show app names chooses whether those names are drawn.
