Dock globe
The optional Dock globe shows routes from the monitor, with a still picture refreshed while Outbound runs.
With “Live globe in the Dock” switched on in Settings › Labs, the Outbound icon in the Dock becomes the globe while the app’s window runs: routes from the monitor’s selected time range drawn on the globe, with the app’s own mark sitting in the bottom corner so you can still find it.
The tile is a still picture. Outbound refreshes it when enabled, then schedules a refresh every 15 seconds with 5 seconds of timer tolerance. Changes to Labs can also trigger a refresh. In the efficient performance profile it skips a refresh when less than 59 seconds have passed since the last one.
Turn the switch off and the Dock returns to the ordinary app icon at once. The switch is off by default, because a Dock icon that changes is your choice to make.
