Open Quickly
Open Quickly (⇧⌘O): the field that jumps to a section, an app, a rule, or an action.
Open Quickly… is in the File menu, shortcut ⇧⌘O. It is one field that goes anywhere in the app without the mouse. The placeholder is “Go to an app, a rule, a section or an action”. Arrow keys move through the results, Return opens the highlighted one, and Escape closes the palette.
What it searches
Section titled “What it searches”Results come in four groups, in this order: Sections, Apps, Rules, Actions. With nothing typed, only Sections and Actions are listed.
- Sections: Overview, Network Monitor, Analytics, Highlights, Assistant, Review, All Rules, Blocklists, and Profiles. Map, Tracking Report, and Trackers are not in this list.
- Apps: every app in the current Network Monitor range. The subtitle is “1 place” or “N places”. An app is also found by the titles of its first 30 destinations. Choosing one opens Network Monitor on that app.
- Rules: every rule. The title is the action and the destination, as in “Allow example.com” or “Deny Anywhere”: the action is Allow, Deny, or Ask, and the destination is Anywhere, a domain “and subdomains”, a host, an address, a network, or Local network. The subtitle is the program, or “Any app”. Notes on rules are searched too. Choosing one opens All Rules on that rule.
- Actions: Resume Filtering while filtering is paused, otherwise Pause for 15 Minutes and Pause for 1 Hour. Switch to Learn, Switch to Ask, and Switch to Strict, omitted when your organization sets the mode (the rest of the app then says “The mode is set by your organization.”). Open Mini Monitor. Network Not Working?, which opens the troubleshooter.

How a query ranks
Section titled “How a query ranks”Each word you type must either start a word in the title, subtitle, or keywords, or appear somewhere in that text. A title that starts with the whole query ranks first. Results are capped at 40, then grouped under their headings with the best match first inside each group. “safari apple” can find Safari and a rule whose text contains both words. It does not list every item that matches only one of them.
When nothing matches, the palette says “Nothing matches “(query)”.”
